About Charity-Hiker

Charity-Hiker e.V. walks for the smallest among us, fighting the most serious illnesses. Our driving force is psychological and social support for affected children and their families. Through our charity hikes, we turn every kilometer walked into hope. We collect project-related donations and pass them on in full, without deduction to relief organizations. As a community independent of any political party, we welcome every form of support with gratitude to create moments of happiness together.

1:1 Promise

Every euro donated reaches the intended projects without deduction. We cover our administrative costs separately, through membership fees and sponsors.

Non-Profit Status

As a registered association (e.V.), we are recognized as non-profit by the German tax authorities. We are authorized to issue donation receipts.

Volunteer-Run

No one at Charity-Hiker receives a salary. The board and hikers work 100% voluntarily, out of passion for the cause.

Accountability

We make the use of our funds public. In our reports, you can track exactly which project received which support.

Decisions

The board and general assembly decide together according to our statutes. Details on the structure and voting rights can be found in the statutes.

Who we are: kilometers for a smile, together

Charity-Hiker e.V. is far more than a hiking club: we are a community of thru-hikers, pilgrims, and nature lovers who believe that every step can make a difference. Born out of a passion for long-distance hiking, our association set itself a clear goal: to use our athletic challenges to provide psychological and social support to severely ill children and their families.

Our philosophy: passion meets responsibility

For us, walking isn't just about reaching a destination — it's about pushing past limits. We want to pass that strength on to those fighting illness every day. Through our charity hikes, often thousands of kilometers long, we create visibility and raise donations that reach where they're needed most, directly to affected institutions and families.

The Charity-Hiker commitment

Transparency isn't a slogan for us — it's our foundation. As a modern relief organization, we operate on a purely volunteer basis. For you as a supporter, that means:

  • 100% impact: every project-related donation is passed on in full, one to one.
  • Total commitment: our hikers fund their own gear and supplies themselves, or have them funded by separate sponsors or supporters.
  • Open exchange: we take every supporter — whether kilometer sponsor, sponsor, or member — along on our journey and make the success of our projects visible through photo and video.
  • Communication & awareness: through talks, images, and reports on our long-distance hikes (thru-hikes), we raise awareness of the situation of severely ill children across Europe.
  • Open solidarity: we see our work as a form of open solidarity, independent of any political party or religion, to channel every form of support to where it's needed.
We are grateful to everyone who helps us create moments of happiness. Because in the end, what matters isn't just the distance walked, but the smile we've left behind.

The 1:1 promise in practice

The fact that every project-related cent arrives isn't a marketing phrase for us — it's a lived reality. Our latest major project proves it: the €16,066.52 raised during the North Cape tour was used without a single cent deducted for the interior fit-out of the new therapy center at the Katharinenhöhe rehabilitation clinic. While the association's structural costs are covered separately, your donation directly changes the lives of children with cancer, on the ground.
